Albert Yu
Vice Chair, BMO Asia
Albert Yu was appointed Vice-Chair, BMO Asia in January 2024. In this role he leads the Bank's strategic initiatives and the acceleration of the strategic transformation of our business in Asia. He also represents our Bank in managing and developing our strategic partnerships and investments in the Asia region.
Albert currently also serves as Director of the Board of COFCO Trust in Beijing, and is BMO's designated executive in the Shareholders Committee of Fullgoal Fund Managment in Shanghai.
Prior to this appointment, Albert was the CEO Asia for BMO since 2009, overseeing all businesses entities and interests of BMO Financial Group in Asia. He was also a Director of the Board and the President of Bank of Montreal (China) Co. Ltd., a wholly owned locally incorporated banking subsidiary in China mainland, since 2010. With offices across eight cities and Beijing as the Asia headquarters, BMO Asia is active in investment and corporate banking, global markets and wealth management. The bank further has strategic business ventures by way of equity partnership in COFCO Trust in Beijing, and Fullgoal Fund Management Company in Shanghai.
Albert started his career in Capital Markets with major Canadian and American banks in Toronto and New York. From derivatives trading, investment banking to senior management, he is an accomplished banker with many years of global experience in Canada, United States, Latin America, and currently, China and Asia Pacific.
Albert earned his Master of Science degree in Business Administration from the Sauder Business School, University of British Columbia. He also holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Windsor, Ontario.
